First Birthdays are Best

Standard

There’s nothing like a first birthday, especially Pen Elaine’s!

Theme:

I wanted to re-live the fun parts of planning a wedding, so I went for cutesy, vintagey, with plenty of flag-banners and doilies! Also, I wanted to make it about what Pen loves, so I went with her favorite bedtime book: Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?  All the guests put their fingerprint on a canvas and then turned it into one of the animals from the book (brown bear, white dog, red bird, etc.) I scoured Pinterest for ways of turning fingerprints into all different types of animals 🙂 I also included “goldfish” and “brown bears” via teddy grahams for snack options.

Food:

I wanted to have food for all the adults at the party but that could still be Pen-friendly, based on her favorite foods. I turned bananas into chocolate-dipped party food, made mini quiches, stacked a tier of cupcakes, and turned mason jars into “hillbilly sippy cups” with super-cute paper straws included.

Activities:

We had painted fingerprints, snacked, and also had a “photo-op with Pen Elaine station” with a basket of costume props.

Fun was had by all, even the birthday girl!
