This time of year can be craziness, but I’m also reminded to take a moment to reflect on all the ways God has blessed me this past year. I’m so thankful for my husband and how kind, protective, and fun he is to be with over the holidays and all the time, and what a godly, manly man he is for me. I’m thankful for my daughter, with her mischievous smile, her fabulous dance moves, and the funny way she says “no” and that now she can say “yeah,” too! I’m thankful for family and getting to spend time with them, our church small group friends, and our home.
At a recent event, the speaker reminded us how God commands celebration, referencing Deuteronomy 16, and that we should celebrate the true gift of Jesus during the holiday season. God has been reminding me to have the joy of the Lord in the every day and also in the holidays, remembering that He has placed me in the place that I am for a reason.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
~1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Here’s a hodge podge mantel for fall/thanksgiving, with a quote I found here, painted on my window pane by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.”
