Quick DIY chalkboard for the Fridge!

Quick DIY chalkboard for the Fridge!

So, we recently did this Pinterest idea for an end-of-the-semester project, via AngelaTurner.com, and it was so easy and turned out so cute! This started with a dollar store find – metallic tray, and we simply painted on 3 coats of chalkboard paint, letting it dry between coats, but the whole painting took maybe an hour. Well, it seemed like the perfect gift with a personal touch, and so I wrote a little verse on there that I thought was appropriate for a birthday 🙂 The cool thing about this is that the tray is also magnetic! That got me to thinking, instead of propping it on a stand, as suggested, I stuck on some magnetic strip to the back, and voila: Cute sign for the fridge! The fridge is where I would see notes, reminders, memory verses, etc. the most often, so why not put up a chalkboard there. I should have taken a picture, but I actually hot glued on a little ribbon to a “corner” of the frame to where the chalkboard could still be vertical OR horizontal. I also hot glued a fabric rosette to a magnet that could be put on or off, depending on what’s written on the chalkboard. Easy naptime project 😉
