The Tale of Three Trees, retold by Angela Elwell Hunt and illustrated by Tim Jonke, was a new discovery this year, for Christmas, from some friends’ recommendations. We actually got recommended the board book version, since the full story gets a little too wordy for a toddler’s attention span. So, this board book is great for not only Christmas, but Easter especially or anytime of year. It tells the sweet story of the hopes and dreams of three trees and how they came true in ways they had never imagined, while telling some of the highlights of Jesus Christ’s life and ministry.
When we were reading this book one day, it inspired me to ask Pen Elaine what she wanted to be when she grows up – she told me she wants to be a “big sister.” She knows that baby brother is coming very soon!
