Pen Elaine loves loves this sweet book by John Butler, While you were sleeping. The illustrations of various animals are so cute; we can’t help using our squeaky, high voices to say how cute the baby mice and baby owls are in the pictures. We also love turning to each other with our widest eyes in imitation of the wide-eyed owls 🙂 This book feels like it was written with love for someone dear to the author.
Adding to its charm, this book is actually a counting book in disguise! You count various animals all the way up to ten, and the last page gives the opportunity for an animal search, repeating the amounts from the previous pages. This is a serendipitous library find we are thoroughly enjoying this fall!
